Six years ago Susan discovered her passion for “Plein Air” [outdoor from life] painting.

She found it the perfect reason and motivation for travelling across the country. Susan strives to capture a special moment in time, a scene that depicts the beauty, essence and uniqueness of the location she is painting.

Susan also creates in studio paintings and does commissions as well using the same principles from her Plein air work.

 After many painting trips to New Mexico, Susan realized that the southwest was calling her. She sold her 40 acre horse farm in Minnesota and moved to New Mexico permanently. She continues to travel, camp and Plein air paint the scenic state with its enchanting and unique beauty. 

Susan studied Fine Arts and Illustration 1988-1992 and received her BFA from College of Visual Arts in Minnesota .She is currently a member of Plein air Painters of New Mexico and Outdoor painters of Minnesota. She continues to compete in Plein air events, show and sell her work in both states.
